The boys outplayed the Rawlings team for nearly the entire game, but the Rawlings bats came alive in the bottom of the 6th inning as they pushed across 6 runs to secure the win...despite the incessant cheering and motivational speeches from our mascot "Squawky".  Ian Abraham took the loss on the mound in relief of Cade Perrin.  Both boys threw the ball very well and did a good job of keeping the Rawlings batters off balance all night.  Brendan O'Connor led the offense with a single, double, RBI and run scored, while Cade Perrin launched a LONG double and a run scored as well.  Several other hitters added hits in the ball game...Nolan Petz had a double, and Brady Chicone, Jared Showers, Brian Butler, Giovanni Casadei, Ryan Basey, and Ryan Hutkowski each had singles in the game.  The Maniax are now 6-13 in the MABF and 6-16 overall.

GAME 18-MANIAX 14, New Baltimore Bay Sox 13 (8 Innings)

(Note: This game was originally suspended after 8 innings in a 14-14 tie, but it went into the books as a forfeit WIN for the Maniax due to the Bay Sox using an illegal player.  For the sake of our stats, I just removed one run from the Bay Sox to give the team the victory.)

The Maniax had their first walk off of the season, but then had to walk back on due to the ineptitude of a certain coach that screwed up the book.  Before you blame the guy you EXPECT it to be (Rusty), I'll go ahead and take the blame!  The Maniax were down 13-7 in the 7th inning and scored an amazing SIX runs to tie the score.  In the top of the 8th, the Bay Sox added a run to go up 14-14, but the scrappy Maniax tied it again to push it to a suspended game due to darkness.  Ryan Hutkowski led the Maniax offensively, going 3-3 and reaching base all four times.  "Hut" drove in a pair of runs and scored another.  Jared Showers, Brendan O'Connor, and DJ Ledsworth each added a pair of singles, while Giovanni Casadei swatted his 4th home run of the season to start the rally in the 7th inning.  Other Maniax collecting hits were Nolan Petz, Brian Butler, Cade Perrin, and Jeremy Davenport.  Chicone and Ian Abraham added sacrifice flies.  Ledsworth threw the first three innings on the mound for the Maniax and struck out six batters while walking five and allowing two earned runs.  He got relief help from Casadei, O'Connor, and Chicone.  This game is scheduled to be resumed on July 2nd at 6:00, right before the 6:30 game.  There may be a forfeit on the part of the Bay Sox before then, but that is in the hands of the MABF.

GAME 12-Motor City Baseball 18, MANIAX 0

The Maniax ran into one of the best teams in the state in this matchup and could never really get anything going offensively.  Brendan O'Connor was the only player to reach base as he drew a walk in the third inning.  Nolan Petz took the loss on the mound but pitched well despite facing some great hitters.  Nolan also employed the "throw a pickoff into the other coaches face" strategy, but it didn't help as the Maniax fell in the three inning mercy rule game.  On a positive note, the MCBC coach will never forget us:)

GAME 11-North Macomb Reds 6, MANIAX 5
