GAME 32-Oxford Wildcats 12, MANIAX 4

The Maniax got down early in this one against a tough Wildcats team and never were able to recover. 

 

GAME 31-Macomb Bulldogs 13, MANIAX 7

The Maniax dropped a tough one in the first game of the state tournament to a very good Macomb Bulldogs squad.  The Maniax were down 3-0 in the bottom of the 6th when they mounted a furious 5-run rally to take the lead.  Cade Perrin had a clutch 2-run single to put the Maniax on top, followed by an RBI double from Connor Lisko.  The Maniax relinquished the lead in the 7th inning however, but fought hard the whole game.  Scott Selleck started and pitched well for the Maniax, striking out three batters and walking three in his four innings of work.  Cade Perrin, Derrick White, and Ian Abraham all pitched in relief, with Abraham taking the loss on the mound.  Perrin led the offense with two hits, while Shane Romback, Lisko, Selleck, White, and Abraham each had one hit each.

 

GAME 30-MANIAX 26, Vengence Orange 4

This one was close...for an inning.  The Maniax were down 4-3 after the top of the 2nd inning, but had a ridiculous offensive output in the bottom of the inning...scoring an amazing 23 RUNS!  The first 18 batters reached base as the Maniax finished their league season in style.  Jared Showers led the offense with a 4-4 day a the plate, including a double and four RBI's.  Derrick White and Jeremy Davenport each had three hits and four RBI's on the day, with one of White's hits being a double.  Connor Lisko, Scott Selleck, and Brendan O'Connor each added two hits, and DJ Ledsworth, Giovanni Casadei, Shane Romback, and Nolan Petz each had a hit.  On the mound for the Maniax, Ian Abraham picked up the win in relief of Scott Selleck.  Selleck threw the first 1 1/3 innings and Abraham threw the final 1 2/3 and allowed no runs on just one hit.  The Maniax finish the MABF season with an outstanding 19-1 record (24-6 overall) and are moving on to the AABC State Championships.  GREAT JOB BOYS!!

GAME 29-MANIAX 20, Michigan Patriots 10

The Maniax offensive attack was unleashed on the Patriots pitching staff as the boys knocked out fifteen hits and twenty runs in the mercy rule victory.  Brendan O'Connor was credited with the win on the mound, throwing the first 2 2/3 innings and allowing just two earned runs.  O'Connor struck out three and walked five.  Jeremy Davenport threw a solid 2 1/3 innings in releif, striking out three batters without allowing a walk.  At the plate, there were a lot of stars.  Nolan Petz was 3-4 with a single, double, triple, and four RBI's, while DJ Ledsworth was 2-3 with three RBI's.  Scott Selleck added a hit and three RBI's, while Connor Lisko knocked out a single and a double with two RBI's and a pair of runs scored.  Ian Abraham was 2-4 with three runs scored and Derrick White was 2-4 with two runs scored.  Other Maniax collecting hits were Davenport, Brendan O'Connor, and Giovanni Casadei, while Jared Showers had an interesting line on the day:  0-0 with three walks, one HBP, and FOUR runs scored.  The Maniax are now 18-1 in the MABF and 23-6 overall on the season.

GAME 28-MANIAX 10, Livonia Longhorns 8

The Maniax closed out the Mayors tournament with a nice comeback win over a solid Longhors squad.  The boys were down 8-3 in the 5th inning but put up seven runs in the bottom of the 5th to secure the win.  Jared Showers threw great to start the game, going four strong innings and allowing three earned runs.  Showers struck out two and walked two.  Giovanni Casadei allowed three earned runs in his inning of relief but was credited with the win, while Scott Selleck got the save, striking out three of the four hitters he faced.  DJ Ledsworth was 2-3 with a double and a pair of RBI's in the win, while Derrick White also collected a pair of singles and an RBI.  Shane Romback continued to hit the ball well with a 2-2 performance and scoring two runs.  Brendan O'Connor was 2-2 as well (6-8 for the tournament!), collecking a pair of singles and an RBI.  Ian Abraham added a two run double, Jeremy Davenport had an RBI double, Scott Selleck added an RBI triple, and Jake Krantz added an RBI single, while Giovanni Casadei was 2-3 with a pair of singles.  The Maniax are now 22-6 on the season after going 2-2 in the tournament...great job boys!!

GAME 27-Avon Lake Thunder 13, MANIAX 3

The Maniax faced a offensive juggernaut in the Avon Lake Thunder and dropped a tough one to move to 1-2 on the tournament.  All of the Maniax runs came in the first inning as Jared Shoers, Scott Selleck, Derrick White, Giovanni Casadei, and Connor Lisko each knocked out singles and DJ Ledsworth added an RBI on a sacrifice fly.  The only other Maniax hit came in the fourth inning on a double by Ledsworth.  Lisko and White each were credited with RBI's in the first inning.  Scott Selleck took the loss on the mound, throwing one inning and allowing a pair of earned runs while striking out three.  Abraham threw well in relief, but the Thunder bats were just too much for the Maniax in the end.

 

GAME 26-Rochester Recruits 14, MANIAX 10

The Maniax hung tough with a very good Rochester squad, but just made too many mistakes in the field and on the base paths in dropping the second game of the tournament.  Derrick White, Jeremy Davenport, and Jared Showers each saw time on the mound for the Maniax and allowed just four earned runs out of fourteen total.  The Maniax as a team had an AMAZING FIVE TRIPLES in the game.  Nolan Petz had two, with Ian Abraham, Jared Showers, and Scott Selleck combining for back to back to back triples in the second inning.  Abraham finished the game 2-3 with three RBI's, Petz had a pair of RBI's to go with his triples, and Jake Krantz contributed with a 1-1 day with two runs scored.  Other Maniax collecting singles in the game were Brendan O'Connor, Connor Lisko, Shane Romback, Derrick White, and DJ Ledsworth.

 

GAME 25-MANIAX 14, Grand Slam 3

Brendan O'Connor led the Maniax with his arm and with his bat in the tournament-opening win over the Grand Slam Academy.  O'Connor got the win on the mound, throwing the first three innings and striking out three batters while walking three.  Ian Abraham came into a tough situation with nobody out and runners on second and third, but proceeded to strike out three consecutive hitters to close out the game in the fourth inning.  O'Connor was 3-3 at the plate with three singles and three RBI's, while DJ Ledsworth had a pair of doubles and an RBI.  Scott Selleck had a single, double, and two runs scored and Shane Romback was 2-2 with three runs scored.  Connor Lisko and Nolan Petz each had a pair of singles in the win, Giovanni Casadei had a triple, and Ian Abraham, Jared Showers, and Derrick White each had singles in the win.

GAME 24-MANIAX 12, Macomb Mercury 8

The Maniax clinched the first ever league championship with the hard fought win over the fourth place Macomb Mercury.  Scott Selleck got the win on the mound, throwing the first 3 2/3 innings and allowing just two runs.  Selleck struck out six batters and walked only two.  Ian Abraham threw 2 1/3 innings after Selleck and was nearly perfect, needing just 23 pitches to record his seven outs.  Abraham struck out two and allowed just one hit.  Gio Casadei pitched the final inning and struck out one batter.  On the offensive side of the ball, Shane "Turtle" Romback smacked two doubles and drove in a pair of runs, while Selleck added a single, triple, and three RBI's.  Abraham added a double and two runs scored and Connor Lisko, Casadei, and DJ "Gazelle" Ledsworth also added singles in the win.  Congratulations to the boys on their league championship...keep up the good work!!

GAME 23-MANIAX 17, Vengence Orange 6

This one was much closer as the game was tied after the 5th inning, but the Maniax exploded for eight runs in the top of the 6th to put the game away enroute to the 17-6 win.  Jared Showers starred on the mound and at the plate, getting the pitching win in relief of Derrick White.  Showers threw the final five innings and surrendered just two hits while walking just one batter and striking out six.  Showers also was 4-4 at the plate with four runs scored and a couple RBI's.  DJ Ledsworth continuted his hot hitting with a 3-4 day at the plate that included a pair of runs scored and two RBI's as well.  Jeremy Davenport also played a great game, going 2-3 with a clutch 2-out, 2-run double in the 6th inning to break the game wide open.  Scott Selleck collected three singles and three RBI's in the win and Nolan Petz was 2-4 with a double and an RBI single.  Other Maniax collecting base hits were Ian Abraham, Jake Krantz, and Connor Lisko.  Lisko also played his first full game back from injury behind the plate and was stellar defensively and even threw out a baserunner at second base.  The Maniax are now 16-1 in the MABF and 19-4 overall on the season.

GAME 22-MANIAX 22, Macomb Mercury 11 (6 Innings)

The Maniax faced a tough Macomb Mercury squad but pulled away late in the game for a mercy rule win in six innings.  The Maniax fell behind 5-0 in the first inning but battled back to tie things up in the bottom half of the inning.  The Ax were also down 7-5 in the second and 8-7 in the fourth, but a huge ten-run fourth inning was just what the boys needed to separate themselves from the pesky Mercury club.  Scott Selleck got the win on the mound in relief of Brendan O'Connor and Ian Abraham.  Jared Showers threw the final 1 1/3 innings to close out the game for the Maniax.  The four pitchers combined to strike out six batters, but struggled a bit with control in walking eleven batters and allowing eight hits.  On the other side of the ball, the Maniax had plenty of production up and down the lineup.  Ian Abraham earned himself a well-deserved game ball by going 2-4 with a double and four runs scored, while Jared Showers also scored four runs while going 3-4 with a single, double, triple, and two RBI's.  Scott Selleck was also 3-4 with a double, home run, and four RBI's, and Derrick White also pitched in with a single, double, and three RBI's.  Other contributers for the Maniax were as follows:  DJ Ledsworth (RBI single, two runs), Giovanni Casadei (2-run single, three runs), Nolan Petz (2-run single), Shane Romback (2-run single), and Brendan O'Connor (two RBI's).  The Maniax also welcomed back Connor Lisko to the starting lineup after an extended absence due to injury, and Lisko was 1-3 with an RBI single and two runs scored...it's great to have you back, Connor!!  The Maniax are now 15-1 in the league and 18-4 overall after the win.

GAME 21-MANIAX 19, Armada Tigers 0 (3 Innings)

Jeremy Davenport threw an abbreviated, three inning perfect game against the Tigers as the Maniax got back to their winning ways in the mercy rule win.  Davenport set down all nine batters he faced, including six strikeouts and three groundouts.  On the other side of the ball, Ian Abraham returned from his one game absence and absolutely MASHED the ball, going 4-4 at the plate with three runs scored, three RBI's, and three stolen bases.  Jared Showers also collected a pair of hits and two RBI's, and Nolan Petz was 1-1 with a pair of walks and three runs scored.  Scott Selleck also scored three runs on three walks, while DJ Ledsworth drove in a pair of runs.  Other Maniax collecting hits were Shane Romback (single), Brendan O'Connor (1-2, 2 runs), Jake Krantz (1-2, 2 RBI's), and Davenport (1-1, 2 runs, 2 RBI's).  The Maniax are now 14-1 in the MABF and 17-4 overall after the win.

GAME 20-Macomb Astros 7, MANIAX 4

Despite allowing just ONE hit during the entire game, the Maniax dropped their first league contest of the season to the second place Astros.  Derrick White took the loss on the mound, throwing two innings and allowing one hit and four walks while striking out three.  Brendan O'Connor pitched well in relief, throwing three solid innings and allowing no hits.  O'Connor struck out two and walked two.  Scott Selleck threw the final inning and struck out three batters and walked one.  NONE of the seven runs allowed by the pitching staff were earned as the Maniax struggled defensively with seven total errors.  On the other side of the ball, White hammered out a perfect 4-4 day, connecting for a pair of doubles and two RBI's.  DJ Ledsworth added an RBI single and Scott Selleck was 2-4 with two singles and two runs scored.  Other Maniax collecting hits were Shane Romback and Nolan Petz.  Coach Felax and Coach Showers would like to commend the boys for their behavior after the game.  Despite losing for the first time, the boys were all very positive and showed their "Maniax Class" in the defeat. 

 

GAME 19-MANIAX 10, Marysville Dash 9 (8 Innings)

Well, if you weren't on hand to witness this one, you missed out on one of the best games you may ever see!  The Maniax were down 9-7 in the 6th inning, but they battled back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th to tie it up before winning on a walk-off single by DJ Ledsworth in the bottom of the 8th.  Scott Selleck had one of the best personal performances by any player on the season, going 4-4 at the plate with a home run, double, two runs scored, and six RBI's.  He also got the win on the mound, tossing 1 2/3 innings of relief, striking out four of the six batters he faced.  DJ Ledsworth continued to knock the cover off the ball with a 3-5 day at the plate, including the only other four RBI's.  Ian Abraham was an unsung hero in the game, scoring four runs on three walks and a single, and also scored the game winning run in the 8th inning.  Jared Showers was 2-4 with a pair of runs scored and also played stellar defense throughout the game at shortstop and behind the plate for the Maniax.  Brendan O'Connor and Shane Romback each had a single and a run scored as well for the Ax.  On the mound, Giovanni Casadei got the start and threw 3 1/3 innings and surrendered five runs, but none of them were earned.  Casadei struck out two batters and walked four.  Ian Abraham pitched an inning in relief of Casadei, and Brendan O'Connor threw a solid two innings as well.  Selleck entered the game in the 7th inning with a runner on third and just one out, but he struck out a pair of batters to escape the damage.  The Maniax are now 16-3 overall and 13-0 in the MABF.  GREAT JOB BOYS!!

GAME 18-MANIAX 15, Macomb Astros 5

After a sluggish start to the game, the Mashing Maniax returned in the 4th Inning of this one to blow the game wide open and secure the mercy rule victory against the second place Astros.  Scott Selleck got the start on the mound, pitching the first three innings, striking out seven and walking four.  Brendan O'Connor got the win in relief of Selleck, giving up just one earned run (two total) in the final two innings.  O'Connor struck out three batters and didn't walk any.  Offensively, DJ Ledsworth remained absolutely ON FIRE at the plate, bashing out his second straight 4-4 game with four singles and three runs scored.  O'Connor helped his own cause with a 3-3 day at the plate, including a pair of runs and a pair of RBI's.  Selleck also pitched in on the offensive end, going 3-4 with a double and three runs scored as well.  Ian Abraham was 2-4 with a double and three RBI's and Derrick White was 2-2 with a Sac Fly and a pair of RBI's.  Jeremy Davenport played a great game, going 1-2 with a pair of runs scored and ran the bases to perfection.  Other players contributing to the win were Shane Romback (1-2 with 3 RBI's), Jared Showers (single, run), and Giovanni Casadei (single, run).  The Maniax are now 12-0 in the MABF and 15-3 overall.  Great work boys!!

GAME 17-MANIAX 9, New Baltimore Bay Sox 6

The Maniax struggled throughout this one, but still pulled out the tough fought victory over a stingy Bay Sox team.  Ian Abraham got the well-deserved win on the mound in relief of starter Derrick White.  Abraham threw 3 1/3 innings and allowed just one run, while striking out four and walking two.  White threw the first 2 2/3 innings and struck out three batters and walked six.  Brendan O'Connor pitched the final inning, allowing just one run.  Offensively, DJ Ledsworth was a BEAST for the Maniax, going 4-4 with four solid singles and a run scored.  Shane Romback also blistered the ball from the 9 spot in the order, going 2-3 with two RBI's and two runs scored.  Jared Showers had a pair of clutch two-out hits (single and a double) and drove in three runs, and Scott Selleck launched his 4th home run of the season to get the Maniax rolling in the first inning.  Abraham pitched in with the bat as well, going 2-4 with a pair of RBI's, while Giovanni Casadei added a solid single and a pair of runs scored.  The Maniax are now 11-0 in league play and 14-3 overall, and they take on the second place Macomb Astros tomorrow in a battle for the top spot in the division!  Good luck boys!!

GAME 16-MANIAX 19, Tri-City Sabercats 1  (4 Innings)

The first NINE batters reached base and scored for the Maniax, and the first place squad never looked back.  DJ Ledsworth drove in five more runs with a pair of singles while Nolan Petz and Jared Showers each added a pair of singles and three RBI's.  Ian Abraham continued to produce from the leadoff position with a 2-2 game with a pair of walks and three runs scored.  Other Maniax collecting hits on the day were Derrick White, Shane Romback, Giovanni Casadei, and Jeremy Davenport.  Amazingly, SEVEN different hitters scored at least two runs in the game.  Jeremey Davenport started the game on the mound and went two innings, striking out four and walking six.  Jared Showers was awarded the win in relief of Davenport, pitching the final two innings and striking out four batters while walking just one.  Nolan Petz also played some fantastic defense, making a bases loaded, two out, DIVING catch to save several runs in the first inning, as well as gunning down a runner trying to turn a single into a double.  The Maniax are now 10-0 in the league and 13-3 overall.  Great Job AX!!!

GAME 15-Monroe Custer 13, MANIAX 3  (5 Innings)

The Maniax dropped their final game of the Rumble to a solid Monroe Custer team.  Ian Abraham was the tough luck losing pitcher on the mound, even though he didn't allow a single earned run in his 1 2/3 innings of work.  The Maniax committed six total errors during the game, including five in the critical 7-run second inning for the Custer.  Scott Selleck threw well in his 2 1/3 innings of relief, striking out one and walking one.  Brendan O'Connor pitched the final inning and worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning.  Offensively, Abraham was a standout for the Maniax, going 3-3 with an RBI.  Giovanni Casadei had the only other RBI with a single in the final inning.  Other hits collected by the Maniax came from DJ Ledsworth (triple, run), Shane Romback (double), Derrick White (single), and Brendan O'Connor (single).  The Maniax are 12-3 overall and still a perfect 9-0 in the league.

 

GAME 14-MANIAX 9, Ann Arbor A's-Green 1  (5 Innings)

The Maniax scored four runs in the first inning, which was more than enough for the pitching duo of Scott Selleck and Derrick White.  Selleck got the win on the hill, throwing the first three innings and allowing just one unearned run.  Selleck struck out five hitters and walked just two.  White threw the last two innings and struck out one batter and walked one as well.  Offensively, White continued to MASH the ball with a 2-3 day, driving in two runs with a clutch double in the first inning.  DJ Ledsworth also had a two-run single in the first inning and Giovanni Casadei added a two-run single of his own in the 5th Inning.  Jake Krantz had the only other RBI with a line drive single in the 4th Inning.  Jared Showers and Shane Romback also added singles for the Maniax, who played fantastic defense throughout the entire game.  The Maniax are now 12-2 on the season overall.

GAME 13-MANIAX 14, Michigan Bruins 12  (5 Innings)

This one was one for the ages!  The gritty Maniax...faced with an impending time limit at the end of the 5th inning...put together an amazing comeback in the top of the 5th Inning to win game one of the Ann Arbor A's Tournament.  DJ Ledsworth was an offensive standout for the Maniax, going 2-3 with an amazing FIVE RBI's, including a bases loaded single in the 2nd inning at a HUGE 2-Run single in the critical 5th Inning.  Giovanni Casadei had the go ahead hit in the 5th Inning...a line drive triple that drove in the tying and go-ahead runs.  Gio also added an RBI single earlier in the game.  Derrick White was 3-4 with a double, two runs, and an RBI, while Scott Selleck had a single, triple, and three runs scored.  Nolan Petz added a single and an RBI triple, and other hits by the Maniax came from Ian Abraham and Jared Showers.  In the bottom of the 5th Inning, Shane Romback earned himself a well-deserved game ball by making two fantastic plays at second base to preserve the win for the Maniax.  Abraham got the win on the mound, pitching in relief of Brendan O'Connor.  O'Connor pitched the first two innings and struck out three batters, while Abraham struck out two in his two innings of work.  Derrick White earned the save on the mound, which was the first save of the season for the Maniax.  The win pushed the Maniax overall record to 11-2.

GAME 12-MANIAX 29, Armada Tigers 3 (3 Innings)

The Maniax seized control of this one early and never looked back.  Brendan O'Connor got the win on the hill by pitching the first two innings of shutout ball, striking out three and walking one.  DJ Ledsworth pitched the final inning and allowed two earned runs and struck out two hitters.  Every single Maniax player contributed offensively...so here is a list (by batting order) with the highlights:  Ian Abraham (2-2, 4 runs);  Jared Showers (2-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 3 runs);  Scott Selleck (2-2, 4 runs, 4 RBI);  Ledsworth (3 runs);  Derrick White (3-5, 2 RBI);  Nolan Petz (3 runs, RBI);  O'Connor (2-3, 3 runs, 5 RBI);  Shane Romback (1-1, 2B, 3 runs);  Jeremy Davenport (2-4, 3 RBI); and Jake Krantz (1-2, 2 runs, 2 RBI).  The Maniax drew 17 walks as a team and were struck by pitches three times.  The Maniax are now 9-0 in the MABF and 10-2 overall.

GAME 11-MANIAX 16, Clinton Township Yellow Jackets 2 (5 Innings)

What a day!  The "Ax" finished a convincing sweep of the Clinton Township Yellow Jackets with yet another mercy rule victory.  Scott Selleck pitched the first 3 2/3 innings to pick up the win.  Selleck allowed just one hit and two earned runs while striking out six and walking five.  Ian Abraham threw the final 1 1/3 innings of shutout ball.  Offensively for the Maniax, Nolan Petz absolutely destroyed the ball, going 3-4 with a pair of towering home runs to go along with a single, three runs, and three RBI's.  Selleck added his second home run of the double header in addition to a single and three runs scored, while Ian Abraham was 2-3 with two runs scored.  Also contributing on offense were Jared Showers (1-2, 2 runs), DJ Ledsworth (2-3, 2 RBI), Derrick White (2-4, 3 RBI, 2 Runs), Gio Casadei (1-3, 2 runs), Shane Romback (1-1, RBI, Run), and Brendan O'Connor (1-3, RBI).  The Maniax played solid defense from top to bottom, which allowed them to come away with the sweep in the double header.  The Maniax are now 8-0 in the MABF and 9-2 overall.

GAME 10-MANIAX 13, Clinton Township Yellow Jackets 3 (5 Innings)

The Maniax started the day off right, handing the Clinton Township Yellow Jackets their first loss of the league season in the 5 inning mercy rule win.  Derrick White got the win on the mound throwing the first three innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out six and walking four.  Brendan O'Connor threw two shutout innings to shut the door for the Maniax and struck out two batters.  The Maniax had a lot of good hitting performances in the game, but none was quite as impressive as Giovanni Casadei, who went 3-3 with a pair of doubles, a home run, and a team record SIX RBI's.  Scott Selleck also added a home run and a single, while DJ Ledsworth and Derrick White each added a double, single, and three runs scored.  Also collecting singles for the Maniax were Jared Showers, Ian Abraham, and Nolan Petz, and Brendan O'Connor added a pair of RBI groundouts.  The Maniax are now 7-0 in the league and 8-2 overall.

GAME 9-MANIAX 13, Michgan Patriots 2 (5 Innings)

The Maniax played what was probably their best all around game of the season thus far in the big victory over a tough Patriots team.  Jared Showers led the Maniax on the mound and with his bat.  Showers pitched all five innings and allowed just one earned run, striking out three and walking just two.  At the plate, Showers was 3-4 with a double and a pair of runs scored.  Giovanni Casadei continued to torch the ball at the plate with a 2-3 day, contributing a double, two RBI's, and a pair of runs scored.  Also contributing to the offensive onslaught were DJ Ledsworth (RBI single), Brendan O'Connor (1-2, 2 runs), Nolan Petz (1-2, 2 RBI, 2 runs), Ian Abraham (1-2, RBI), and Jake Krantz (big 2-out, 2-run single).  The Maniax outfield of Derrick White, Selleck, and Petz played stellar throughout the game, making four total putouts and backing up every play!  Great job to all of the players on a well-played game!  The Maniax are now 6-0 in league play and 7-2 overall and take on another undefeated team on Saturday, the Clinton Township Yellow Jackets.  Good Luck boys!

GAME 8-MANIAX 19, Eastside Niners 7 (5 Innings)

The "AX" completed the double header sweep of the Niners by exploding for 11 runs in the first inning and never looking back.  Jared Showers took out the frustration (of having such an un-cool dad) on the baseball, going 3-3 with a single, double, and triple to go along with a pair of RBI's and three runs scored.  Ian Abraham, DJ Ledsworth, and Giovanni Casadei each had a pair of singles, while Scott Selleck had an RBI triple and three runs scored.  Jacob Krantz and Jeremy Davenport each addded a double, while Nolan Petz, Derrick White, Brendan O'Connor, and Shane Romback each added singles.  If you're keeping track at home...yes, that means every Maniax player had at least one hit.  Selleck picked up the win on the mound, going the first four innings, striking out six and walking one.  Davenport threw the final inning and allowed one unearned run, striking out two and walking one.  The Maniax are now 5-0 in the MABF and 6-2 overall.

GAME 7-MANIAX 15, Eastside Niners 7

The Maniax hit parade continued in the first game of a double header against a tough Eastside Niners squad.  DJ Ledsworth led the way with a 4-5 day at the plate, driving in four runs.  Scott Selleck also mashed the ball, going 3-5 with a 2-run homer, a pair of singles, and three runs scored.  Nolan Petz also collected a pair of singles in the win, and Jared Showers had an RBI double and three runs scored.  Ian Abraham was 1-3 with three runs scored, and Derrick White, Giovanni Casadei, Brendan O'Connor, and Shane Romback each pitched in with a single.  On the mound, Derrick White shut down the niners for the first five innings, allowing no hits while striking out eight and walking five.  Brendan O'Connor pitched the final 1 2/3 innings and allowed one hit and no runs.  The Maniax are now 4-0 in the league for the season and 5-2 overall.

GAME 6-MANIAX 10, Tri-City Sabercats 0 (5 innings)

Brendan O'Connor was the story in this one, as he twirled a complete game, one-hit shutout against the league foe, striking out ELEVEN batters and not walking one.  The only hit for the Sabercats came on a line drive single in the final inning.  Jake Krantz caught a great game behind the plate and pitched in on offense with a single, double, and two RBI's.  DJ Ledsworth also had a single and a double and Giovanni Casadei pitched in with an RBI double of his own.  Jared Showers rounded out the hitting attack with a single and three stolen bases.  O'Connor and Nolan Petz each scored a pair of runs, while Petz and Derrick White each had an RBI.  The Maniax are now 3-0 in the MABF and 4-2 overall.

GAME 5-MANIAX 13, South Farmington Blues 6

After a disappointing day one, the Maniax sent their adoring fans home happy with a big win on day two.  DJ Ledsworth started on the mound and pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing five runs, three of which were earned.  Ian Abraham picked up the win in relief of Ledsworth.  Abraham was impressive on the mound, going the final 3 2/3 innings and allowing just one run.  Ian struck out three and walked only one.  The Maniax ripped the cover off the ball offensively.  Jared Showers was 3-3 with a double and three runs scored, while Scott Selleck continued his hot hitting with a 2-3 day that included a triple and three RBI's.  Giovanni Casadei was an impressive 3-3 with three doubles and three RBI's and Brendan O'Connor was 1-3 with a run scored.  Also collecting hits were Ledsworth with a 2-run double and Nolan Petz with a single.  Abraham also pitched in with a painful RBI as he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded:)  The Maniax played great defense the entire game, led by Jared Showers at short.  Showers had three assists and three putouts in the game without committing an error.  The Maniax overall record now stands at 3-2 after the win.

GAME 4-Motor City Riversharks 11, MANIAX 5

(Shiawassee Shootout)

Game two of the Shiawassee shootout was a disappointing loss for the Maniax.  Scott Selleck started on the mound and threw the first three innings, allowing three runs.  Selleck struck out five hitters and walked five, allowing just two hits.  Jeremy Davenport took the loss in relief of Selleck, throwing the final threee innings.  Davenport allowed eight runs on five hits, but only five of the runs were earned.  He struck out three and walked three.  Offensively, Scott Selleck was 2-2 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, while Brendan O'Connor pitched in with an RBI double of his own.  Derrick White ripped an inside the park home run and added an RBI single, and contributing with a single each were Shane Romback, Ian Abraham, and DJ Ledsworth.  The Maniax overall record stands at 2-2 after the loss.

 

GAME 3-Farmington Mudhens 12, MANIAX 5

(Shiawassee Shootout)

The Maniax went up against a powerhouse offensive team and came up short in the five-inning time limit game.  Derrick White took the tough loss on the mound, allowing nine runs, although only four of them were earned.  White struck out four batters in his three innings of work.  Giovanni Casadei pitched the final two innings and allowed three runs, none of which were earned.  Casadei added a solo homerun in the win, while Scott Selleck went 2-3 with a double and two runs scored.  DJ Ledsworth and Derrick White added RBI singles, Nolan Petz had a single and a run scored, and Jeremy Davenport drove in a run with a groundout.  The Maniax are 2-1 on the season after the loss.

 

GAME 2-MANIAX 19, New Baltimore Bay Sox 8

The Maniax continued their offensive onslaught in game number two as they pounded out 17 hits in the victory.  Giovanni Casadei led the attack with a 4-5 day, scoring three runs and driving in two.  Nolan Petz and Shane Romback each pitched in with two hits, three runs, and two RBI's each, while DJ Ledsworth and Scott Selleck each had a single and a double.  Selleck added three RBI's and a pair of runs scored.  Also chipping in on offense with a single each were Connor Lisko, Jeremy Davenport, Jared Showers, Derreck White, and Brendan O'Connor.  O'Connor and Showers also each scored two runs each.  On the mound for the Maniax, Scott Selleck pitched the first three innings to get the win, allowing just one earned run while striking out four and walking four.  Selleck allowed just two hits.  O'Connor then came on and pitched a very solid three innings, striking out six batters while allowing just one hit and three walks.  Ledsworth pitched the final inning and struck out three batters and walked just one.  The victory came at quite a steep cost however, as starting catcher and leadoff hitter Connor Lisko broke his collar bone in a vicious collision between second and third base.  The Maniax and the coaching staff wish Connor the best of luck in his recovery and look forward to getting him back on the field as soon as possible!

GAME 1-MANIAX 15, Marysville Dash 3

Derrick White picked up the win on the mound and also had big 2-run triple to pace the Maniax attack.  On the mound, White threw the first three innings and allowed three runs on two hits.  White walked four hitters and struck out five.  Jeremy Davenport pitched a scoreless 4th inning, while Jared Showers pitched out of a bases loaded and nobody out jam to shut the door on the mercy rule win in the 5th inning.  Davenport struck out two and Showers struck out one.  Offensively, several Maniax contrubuted with big days at the plate.  Scott Selleck had a double, triple, and two runs scored, while D.J. Ledsworth pitched in with a 2-2 day that included a pair of singles and an RBI.  Connor Lisko drove in a pair of runs with a double and a single and Geovanni Casadei was 1-2 with a single and three runs scored.  Brendan O'Connor was 2-2 with a pair of RBI's, Nolan Petz was 1-2 with two runs scored, and Shane Romback was 1-3 with two runs scored.  In addition to his big triple, White also had a single to go 2-3 for the game.  Coach Felax and Coach Showers are both incridibly happy with the performance of the team in game number one and look forward to taking on the New Baltimore Bay Sox on Thursday at 6:00!  Great job boys!!!
